Into Whitehorse, YT with Beautiful Blue Skies.
We had a very quiet night and woke up to a beautiful blue sky. We had breakfast and because Bob thought we needed gas he figured we should stop and save time and buy coffee when he stopped just up the road at Coal River. NEVER AGAIN! The gas was $1.779 per liter (around $8/gal) Bob stopped pumping at $120 figured it should cost around $90 US. Also the coffee was $2 and only small cups! "They saw him coming!" We shook off the "rip-off" and headed out. In the first hour we saw: 1 Snow-shoe hare, 2 Bison, 1 Silver fox and 3 Black Bears (including a mother and her cub). In the second hour we saw another hare, another fox with slightly reddish highlights in it's tawny coat, 2 black bears and 1 large brown bear. The bears this time didn't mind our gaulking and I was able to take lots of pictures. About 60 miles down the road we stopped at Contact Creek to check prices. Their gas was $1.349/liter. About $1.75/gal less than the previous stop. (and we could have easily bypassed it!) We topped off the tank here. The landscape became a series of snow capped peaks, beautiful lakes and multiple small rivers and streams. An outdoors-man's(and woman's) dream! Also each day we would see several beaver dams. Some were incredibly large and intricate. The picture of the day was from a rest area on a steep grade climbing down into Teslin. This is a small First Nation village along the Teslin Lake. A very long lake where native salmon come to spawn. They travel all the way down the Yukon River to the bering Sea. Teslin is a picture perfect location. After 375 miles driving for the day we arrived down Whitehorse, YT. First stop was the visitor's center where we got all our questions answered. We had to check road conditions for the next leg of our travels. The turn off to Arctic Circle was not to be missed!

Whitehorse another cool interesting town. We stayed there a couple of days. The First Nation Cultural Center was very interesting. It looks like the weather is also agreeable.
